Cochlear Duct. (Image modified with permission from a drawing by C. Kaiser). This drawing represents a radial cross-section of a single turn of the cochlea. Note the organ of Corti (hair cells, support cells and tectorial membrane) and its position relative to the three fluid-filled compartments of the cochlea: the scala media (endolymph), and the scala vestibuli and tympani (perilymph). Identify also: bony spiral lamina; basilar and vestibular membranes; spiral ganglion cells.
