(FRAME-INFO (STRING "Somatic Motor Nuclei, Computer Reconstruction. This reconstruction highlights the nuclei which house the cell bodies innervating the extraocular eye muscles and tongue muscles. These nuclei are collectively known as the general somatic motor \(or efferent\) nuclei. The axons of cells in each nucleus exit via the cranial nerve of the same name. Axons of cells from the oculomotor nucleus in the rostral midbrain travel in the oculomotor nerve \(III\) to innervate all the extraocular muscles except the superior oblique and the lateral rectus muscles. Axons of cells in the trochlear nucleus in the midbrain at the level of the inferior colliculus travel in the trochlear nerve \(IV\) to innervate the superior oblique muscle.
