The caudate nucleus is the only gray matter apart from the cortical mantle visible at this level. The caudate nucleus lies in the lateral wall of the anterior horn and body of the lateral ventricle. The tail of the caudate nucleus tapers and curves round to lie in the roof of the inferior horn of the ventricle and is visible in much lower horizontal sections than this one. Thin wisps of choroid plexus are visible in the lateral ventricles. "))
